That is Julie Prince (Julie’s Georgia Backyard), with just a few footage from the late summer time and fall backyard. The pool backyard was began in the summertime of 2020. The front-drive backyard was began in 2021. Each are nonetheless “works in progress”! Issues are altering consistently as I attempt to give the backyard extra top and winter curiosity.
A lot of yellow is offered by large coneflowers (Rudbeckia laciniata, Zones 3–9) and black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia fulgida, Zones 4–9).
We stay up for seeing and smelling moonflower (Ipomoea alba, Zones 10–11 or as an annual) every night.
Pink canna lilies (Canna hybrid, Zones 8–11 or as tender bulbs)
Our property is within the coronary heart of our farm. The calves started dropping in September. There are about 60 calves on the bottom now. We love taking a day journey by the pastures to see the newborns and what’s blooming as we go. The wildflowers have been stunning this 12 months regardless of the very dry climate that we’re having.
As you may see from this image, numerous “critters” go to our backyard. I used to be fascinated with this spider that had snagged a wasp for dinner.
‘Iceberg’ rose bloom
White lantana (Lantana camara, Zones 8–11 or as an annual) with blue plumbago (Plumbago auriculata, Zones 9–11 or as an annual)
Oyster plant (Tradescantia spathacea, Zones 9–11), black and blue salvia (Salvia guaranitica ‘Black and Blue’, Zones 7–11 or as an annual), pink salvia (Salvia coccinea, Zones 9–10 or as an annual) and candy basil (Ocimum basilicum, Zones 10–11 or as an annual)
Carolina sapphire cypress (Hesperocyparis arizonica, Zones 7–11) makes a fantastic backdrop for cannas and pink salvia.
Pineapple sage (Salvia elegans, Zones 8–11 or as an annual) is standard with the various hummingbirds who go to the backyard.
I discovered the native ageratum (Conoclinium coelestinum, Zones 6–10) and transplanted some into my backyard final fall. It has bloomed prolifically. I’m hoping this wasn’t a mistake!
